We will quickly pack up and head to Hamakua Marsh, right across from our storefront. Talk about venturing off the beaten path, this hidden wildlife sanctuary is a true gem. Native, endangered birds are found here. Keep an eye out for the four endemic waterbird species: ‘Alae ‘Ula, Ae’o, ‘Alae Ke’o Ke’o, and Koloa Maoli. You’ll also find Mallard ducks, Cardinals, Mynah Birds, Bulbuls, Sparrows, and Doves.

Important details
- Arrive 1 hour before the tour starts for the safety briefing, route overview, kayaking lesson, and cultural history
- Requires the ability to ride a bike, physical fitness, and the ability to swim while wearing a life vest
- E-bike riders must be ages 16+ and ride with a parent or guardian
- Children under 13 require a private trip; children 8 and under ride in a bike trailer and share a kayak with an adult
- Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a swimsuit, water, towels, sunglasses, a change of clothes, and footwear suitable for hiking and water activities
- Follow state wildlife sanctuary rules: stay below the high-water mark and do not bring dogs, light fires, camp, or set up tents, tarps, or other structures
Cancellation Policy
Cancel more than 48 hours before start for a refund, excluding the non-refundable $10 per-person meal deposit. Cancellations within 48 hours are charged in full. If the operator cancels due to hazardous weather, reschedule or receive a refund.

No. The guided kayak tour is designed for beginners, and your group gets a safety demo, kayaking lessons, and a route briefing before you head out. Snorkeling is optional.
