Private Pier Crabbing Class in San Francisco

Learn to crab with an instructor dedicated to your private group

    Duration

    3 hrs

    Ideal For

    Up to 6 people

    Includes

    Private instructor, Gear, Bait

    Highlights

Try pier crabbing beneath the Golden Gate Bridge with private, hands-on instruction. Whether you're new to fishing or want to deepen your skills, this class focuses on learning the technique—not a guaranteed catch.

    • Learn how bait attracts crabs to looped snares that catch them along the bottom
    • Explore a West Coast pastime revolutionized in the Bay Area in the 1980s
    • Join a weekday class offered separately from the usual weekend public sessions

    Itinerary

We will meet in front of the Warming Hut Cafe and Bookstore which is right next to Torpedo Wharf at 983 Marine Drive in San Francisco. We will wait around for about 5-10 minutes to give everyone a chance to arrive on time while briefly getting to know each other.

Once we get to our fishing spot we will go through a 30 minute introduction on the gear, our history, legal information, casting, reeling and general etiquette we will have 2.5 hours of pure crab fishing. Our licensed guides will go over all the aspects of Crab fishing & other marine life in the Bay. Once the time has elapsed we will collect the gear and conclude the class. Any legal crab caught to be cooked you should refer to my website page (preparing crab and cooking section) regarding the cooking and disassembly of the crabs.
