Wear closed-toe shoes with good tread (hiking shoes/boots, running shoes, or tennis shoes) and clothing that allows a full range of motion; long pants can help reduce leg scrapes. Bring water (preferably in a reusable bottle), a hair tie for long hair, bug repellent, rain gear, and layered clothing. Expect clothes may get dirty, snagged, or ripped on natural sandstone.
Plan on at least 1.5 miles over uneven terrain with rocks, roots, and leaves, including steep inclines and hills. You need to be fully mobile and comfortable hiking by flashlight across uneven terrain.
