I don't usually write reviews, but this tour genuinely deserved one. I took the Red Hook tour with NYC Explained and was really impressed. Mike our guide was knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the neighborhood he's the kind of person who makes you realize how much history is tucked into places you'd otherwise walk right past. Red Hook is not somewhere I would have thought to explore on my own, and I'm so glad this tour changed that. We covered the waterfront history, the character of the community, and a few surprising details that I found myself sharing with my family at dinner that night. It was well-paced, never overwhelming, and just a genuinely lovely way to spend a couple of hours. If you're looking for something a little different to do in the city especially with older kids or another curious adults like I did with my alumnae group I'd definitely recommend it.
