Justin has built a strong reputation as a kayak guide in Door County, and it's easy to see why repeat visitors keep coming back. As a local, his knowledge of the area's geology, history, wildlife, and even indigenous heritage goes well beyond what you'd expect from a typical tour. Reviewers consistently highlight how he tailors each outing to the group's skill level, whether that means a relaxed paddle for first-timers or a more ambitious half-day adventure for experienced kayakers. The equipment stands out as a genuine differentiator. Justin uses sea kayaks that reviewers describe as noticeably more stable, comfortable, and efficient than what other operators use, which makes a real difference, especially for beginners. Small group sizes add to the personalized feel, and multiple reviewers mention his flexibility around weather, proactively suggesting alternative tours when conditions change. One reviewer also noted his thoughtful approach to accommodating a family member with a disability, which speaks to the care he brings to every outing. With a near-perfect rating across a large number of reviews, and multiple guests who have returned for their third, fourth, and even fifth tours, the pattern here is pretty telling. Justin genuinely loves what he does and where he lives, and that enthusiasm comes through on the water.
This was my first kayak experience, and I dare to say I think I've been spoiled. The kayak was very comfortable, very adjustable with the seats and foot holds. They seemed very nice compared to other kayaks. Justin was very confident in every way. His instruction was clear and understandable, he instilled us newbies with confidence, and he was very well versed in the information about the area and shipwreck we saw. He's local to Door County, so it makes sense! He was also very personable, easy going, and approachable. We never felt unsafe and we thoroughly enjoyed our time! Will definitely get him again for a different Door County tour.
