The Davidson River Corridor & Ancestral Basecamps Depart along the paved section of Forest Road 475, winding parallel to the Davidson River. As you ride past mossy rock ledges, your guide will share the history of the valley—explaining how Cherokee hunters, anglers, and families established seasonal basecamps along these historic stream beds to fish mountain creeks and gather resources under the canopy.
Cove Creek Bridge & Cherokee Ethnobotany Cross the bridge near Cove Creek as the route transitions to smooth, well-maintained gravel. Stop along the lush stream banks to discover where native botanicals were harvested for healing and daily life, and learn about the nearby trail options that lead to hidden cascades like Cove Creek Falls. The Sacred Waters of Daniel Ridge Falls Arrive at the turnaround point: Daniel Ridge Falls (also known as Tom’s Spring Falls). Take a short, scenic walk to the base of this 150-foot cascading waterfall. Here, you will learn about the spiritual significance of mountain waterfalls as places of cleansing, renewal, and sacred power for Cherokee gatherers. Enjoy light refreshments and photos before heading back.
Downhill Glide Back to Trailhead Hop back on your e-bikes for an effortless, mostly downhill-sloping glide back along Forest Road 475, taking in fresh views of the river and mountain forest before wrapping up at the trailhead.
