Taste donuts and uncover Union Square and Greenwich Village stories
2 hours
Donuts, donut shop history, stroll
Sample donuts on an outdoor walking tour offered in English and Spanish. Explore New York's donut history while enjoying a relaxed stroll through the city.
Your tour begins at a whimsical spot known for its oversized, flavor-packed donuts. While you enjoy these indulgent treats, we’ll share the story of Union Square’s transformation from a 19th-century gathering place for protests and parades to the vibrant cultural and culinary hub it is today.
As we make our way to our next stop, you’ll learn about the surrounding Flatiron District, including its namesake building and its significance in New York’s architectural history. At our next stop, indulge in classic favorites and innovative creations at this retro-style shop that has been a beloved part of NYC’s donut scene for decades.
Between bites, we’ll stroll through Greenwich Village, diving into tales of bohemian artists, revolutionary thinkers, and the birthplace of American counterculture. This walk sets the perfect tone for our final stop: COPS Doughnuts. A pastry chef and food scientist came together to create their special donut recipe, so they're proven to be delicious on a molecular level!
Along the way, this tour offers not only the best donuts Union Square has to offer but also a rich narrative of the area’s past, making it a deliciously immersive New York experience!
Full refund with at least 24 hours' notice. No refund for cancellations made less than 24 hours before the tour.

The guides really make this experience special. Reviewers consistently praise their tour leaders by name—Wade, Beau, Eric, Jackson, Nick, Michael, Emily, and others—describing them as knowledgeable, funny, and genuinely engaging. What stands out is how these guides weave local history and city stories into the walking tour, making it much more than just a food crawl. Multiple guests mention learning fascinating historical facts about their city while sampling donuts, and several reviewers who've taken tours in different cities (Chicago, Portland, DC, Boston, NYC) report consistently excellent experiences across locations. The donut quality gets thumbs up, with most stops offering delicious variety in styles and flavors. Expect comfortable seating at each location, which people appreciate. Tours typically run about two hours and cover a good walking distance, so comfortable shoes are recommended. Several locals have used these tours to entertain out-of-town visitors with great success, and at least one repeat customer has done six tours and counting. It's clearly a hit for dates, birthdays, and family outings alike.
This tour was initially a great way to entice our teenager to walk and talk about history in Chicago. Jackson was a knowledgeable guide, entertaining and engaging with the entire group. Definitely get a little protein before all the sugar, they are incredibly tasty. Our favorites were the Black and White at Doughnut Vault, the strawberry cream at Firecakes, and the Old Fashioned at Stan's
