Spend a full day climbing in Northern Utah's Wasatch Range near Salt Lake City and Park City, with objectives tailored to your group's interests and skills. Choose a guided multi-pitch day or focus on instruction to build the skills to climb more independently.
Climbers should be confident with basic climbing techniques as a pre-requisite. You may need to bring personal climbing gear; some items can be provided.
Cancellations more than 30 days before your reservation may be cancelled for a full refund, except non-private courses which require 60 days notice. Within 30 days (60 days for courses) cancellations are 50% refundable. Within 7 days and no-shows are non-refundable. If the operator cancels due to weather or other reasons, you may reschedule or receive a full refund. Once an outing starts, no refunds are given.
What should I bring for the day?
Bring appropriate climbing gear and personal items for a full day outside, including food and snacks, 1.5–2L of water, sun protection, and layers (insulating layer and a light rain jacket). A more complete list may include climbing shoes, approach/hiking shoes, a 30–45L backpack, a small compressible pack for while climbing, and personal items like medications.
Can you provide climbing equipment?
Yes—some items can be provided, including a climbing harness, climbing helmet, tube-style belay device with a locking carabiner, and a 30–45L backpack.
Is there a required skill level?
Climbers should be confident with basic climbing techniques as a pre-requisite.
What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?
More than 30 days before your reservation, you can reschedule with no penalty or cancel for a full refund (non-private courses require 60 days notice). Within 30 days (60 days for courses), cancellations are 50% refundable and rescheduling may be available with a 25% fee, based on availability. Within 7 days and no-shows are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.
What if the outing is cancelled due to weather?
If the operator cancels due to weather or other reasons, you can reschedule, receive a credit for the value of the outing, or get a full refund. Once an outing starts, no refunds are given; if less than half of the outing is completed due to weather, half the value is issued as a credit.
With a perfect track record across hundreds of reviews, this guide service consistently delivers exceptional outdoor education and adventures. Guides like John (the owner), Adam, Nate, Dan, and Chris earn praise for being both incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely fun to be around. Reviewers appreciate how these professionals balance safety with an approachable teaching style that makes complex topics like avalanche safety and technical climbing accessible to newcomers. The small student-to-teacher ratios really shine through in the feedback, especially for avalanche courses where people felt they received personalized attention while learning critical skills. Families and groups mention smooth communication during booking and guides who adapt well to mixed ability levels, from kids to seniors. Instructors create an open atmosphere where questions are encouraged, and they push students to think independently rather than just following along. Several people specifically mention feeling comfortable during dangerous conditions because their guides took time to explain decision-making processes, not just bark orders.
I attended an SPI course at the City of Rocks. Adam Fleming was my instructor, and I was very impressed. The course was given with excellent structure and timing. Adam has a depth of knowledge that was very apparent.
