    Itinerary

    What the day looks like:

Arrival and a warm welcome at our launch point. We begin with a brief orientation, paddle and safety review, and introduction to the day’s route, conditions, and wildlife etiquette.

Once on the water, we paddle through protected areas of Tomales Bay at a relaxed pace. Your guide will share natural history, local ecology, and quiet invitations to observe the bay with all your senses. We pause often for wildlife viewing, photos, water breaks, and moments of stillness. Depending on conditions, we may explore shoreline edges, eelgrass areas, sheltered coves, or open stretches of calm water.

We return to shore with time to land gently, gather belongings, and share anything memorable from the experience.

Kayaking amidst bioluminescence was an enchantingly beautiful and mystical experience! Up close and intimate with Nature glowing and sparkling in the dark. Microscopic dinoflagellate plankton briefly illuminate at the touch of your hand, dip of your oar, and fish darting at your side. Everything was organized seamlessly and expertly by Pilar leading up to and throughout the outing. Equipment and gear were in excellent condition and fit well, allowing us to focus 100% on the magic of the moment. Kamyar is everything you could want in a tour guide: kind, knowledgeable, calm, patient, attentive, helpful, clear, fun, and confidence inspiring. (The latter being especially welcome by novice kayakers launching out into unfamiliar water in the dark.) He shares his love of kayaking and reverence for Tomales Bay with his whole heart, inviting us to join in the full sensory experience of sights, sounds, smells, and touch, as well as quiet awareness of the space around us. You can’t capture even an inkling of this on your phone. Absolutely a top notch outfit with a wonderful approach to guided kayak tours!
