Things to do near31st Street Harbor
31st Street Harbor is a modern Chicago marina offering stunning skyline views, easy lake access, and a welcoming atmosphere along Lake Michigan's Illinois shoreline.
31st Street Harbor opened in 2011 as one of the newest additions to Chicago's lakefront marina system, replacing an older and far more modest facility. Managed by the Chicago Park District, it was designed with modern amenities and a sweeping layout that takes full advantage of its position on Lake Michigan's western shore. The harbor accommodates hundreds of vessels and draws both seasoned sailors and curious visitors who come simply to take in the scene.
From the docks, the view north toward downtown is one of the more quietly spectacular in the city. You can watch vessels ease in and out of their slips while the skyline, anchored by landmarks familiar to anyone who has spent time in Chicago, fills the background. The adjacent 31st Street Beach adds a recreational dimension, giving non-boaters a reason to linger.
Sailors looking to get out on the water will find sailing well within reach here, and the harbor sits along a lakefront corridor that connects easily to other notable stops. A few miles north lies Monroe Harbor, another busy marina popular with Chicago's boating community. 31st Street Harbor stands as a genuine asset to the city's southern lakefront.
