The beach is best known as a seasonal harbor seal rookery. Each spring the cove is closed to foot traffic so that mothers can give birth and nurse their pups undisturbed on the sand. Visitors watch from the bluff overlook, close enough to hear the seals bark and shuffle below. Outside pupping season the beach reopens, and the wide views south toward Asilomar State Beach and the open Pacific make it a rewarding stop for photographers and anyone seeking a quieter corner of the Pebble Beach coast.

The surrounding landscape is classic Central California: Monterey cypress leaning inland from decades of ocean wind, granite outcrops edging the surf line, and the kind of stillness that makes conversation feel optional. Tidepools at the base of the bluffs shelter sea stars, anemones, and hermit crabs at lower tides, adding a layer of discovery for careful explorers.
