Fern Grotto has drawn visitors to the eastern shore of Kauai for generations. The river journey takes roughly 30 minutes each way, passing riverside jungle and open meadows. Near the grotto landing, a short walking path winds through a botanical garden setting. Visitors interested in more adventure can explore kayaking tours on the Wailua River, which open up access to trails leading deeper into the valley. The nearby Secret Falls Trailhead is a short distance away for those eager to hike after the boat tour.
