Fins & Things is one of Moab's most celebrated off-road trails, carved across BLM land on the Sand Flats Recreation Area southeast of downtown. The route takes its name from the parallel sandstone ridges, or fins, that rise from the desert floor like the spine of some buried creature. Navigating between and over them demands focused driving and rewards it with scenery that few paved roads could ever reach.

The trail spans roughly eight miles and is rated difficult, featuring steep climbs, off-camber ledges, and sections of bare Navajo sandstone that test both vehicle capability and driver skill. Overlooks along the way open onto canyon panoramas and distant glimpses of the La Sal Mountains, their snow-dusted peaks forming a striking contrast with the red rock below.

The broader Sand Flats area connects to a network of trails that define Moab's off-road identity. The nearby Hells Revenge Safari Route offers another technical challenge for those who want to extend the day.
