Worth Avenue was developed in the early twentieth century by architect Addison Mizner, whose Spanish-Mediterranean Revival style defined the look of Palm Beach. Mizner designed the street's signature vias, intimate arcaded walkways that branch off the main boulevard and give the avenue its layered, almost village-like character. The buildings retain their original stucco facades, red-tile roofs, and wrought-iron details, making Worth Avenue as much an architectural landmark as a shopping destination.

Today the avenue draws visitors with a mix of international luxury houses and independent galleries showing paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts. The stretch closest to the ocean offers glimpses of the beach at the end of the block, and the nearby Lake Worth Lagoon is visible from the western end, framing the promenade between two bodies of water.
