North Country Rivers has built a loyal following for good reason. Guides like Chris, Ben, Vito, Codi, Jason, and Allison come up repeatedly in reviews, and the praise is consistent across the board. First-timers especially appreciate how patient and reassuring the staff are from the moment you arrive, right down to spending nearly 40 minutes helping a group get properly fitted in wetsuits before hitting the water. The experience goes beyond just the rafting itself. There's a food buffet after trips, cabin accommodations for overnight stays, and a game room that younger guests love. Some groups have been returning annually for nearly a decade, which says a lot. The Kennebec and Dead River routes both get strong marks, and the Ultimate Turbine Trip with the high-volume release seems to be a crowd favorite for those chasing bigger thrills. If you're on the fence, the sheer number of multigenerational groups, scout troops, and first-timers who walk away raving should give you confidence. This is a well-run operation where safety is clearly prioritized without taking the fun out of the adventure.
I did the shipwreck clear bottom kayak tour and it was amazing! A bit rigorous since it's open water, but we clearly saw multiple shipwrecks! The tour guides were great, and it was an awesome experience.
