Float 5 miles down the Hocking River—no paddling needed
3-5 Hours
Grab a tube and float the Hocking River at a relaxed pace on a roughly 5-mile route. Trip time varies with water levels, so plan for a flexible day on the river.
Ages 12+ only and each tube has a 250 lb weight limit. Closed-toe shoes are required and flip flops are not allowed. Tubing season runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day (conditions dependent) and reservations are currently only accepted for groups of 10+.
Refunds if you notify at least 7 days before your arrival date, minus a $10 processing fee. Operations typically proceed in rain except with lightning. In adverse weather or lightning, you can reschedule; rescheduling expires after one year.
Wear closed-toe shoes. Flip flops are not allowed.
Plan for a physically demanding outing. You do not get a paddle, and you may need to swim for an extended period at times, so being in reasonable physical condition is recommended.
Join if you are age 12 or older. Each tube has a 250 lb weight limit.

Hocking Hills Adventures is clearly doing something right with their combination of river trips and primitive camping. The kayaking and canoeing on the Hocking River gets consistent praise for being scenic, family-friendly, and well-organized. Staff members like Shane, Christine, and Bear earn specific shoutouts for their hospitality and helpfulness. The equipment is reliable, check-in runs smoothly, and the trips accommodate everyone from young kids to seniors looking for a mellow float. The camping setup offers a refreshingly rustic experience tucked back in the woods with spacious, private sites that feel wonderfully secluded. You'll find fire rings and picnic tables at each spot, though it's worth knowing this is truly primitive camping (bring your own grate if you want one). The single-use restroom facilities with private showers stay clean and well-stocked, though they're about a 5-8 minute walk from the sites. Since this is a newer location still developing, signage could be clearer and some guests suggest portable toilets closer to camp would be convenient during busy season. If you're after a back-to-nature vibe rather than a full-service campground, this place delivers exactly that authentic atmosphere.
We had a beautiful sunny kayak trip down the river! We had a single and double kayak, with our 9 year old grandson. We were warmly welcomed and the trip was on time. Equipment and transportation was great. Highly recommended!
