Captain Matt and his crew were incredibly down-to-earth, kind, and welcoming. They made the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish, sharing fascinating facts about the local marine life as well as interesting stories about life in Alaska. They were professional, personable, and genuinely accommodating. Even though we booked a large group on short notice, communication was prompt and the process was seamless. Their prices were also extremely reasonable. We went in late July 2026, and the boat was very comfortable for our group of 12. It was especially impressive to learn that Captain Matt designed and built the boat himself. The excursion exceeded our expectations. We saw humpback whales, gray whales, seals, sea otters, and even got a glimpse of local fishing life. There were so many whales—it was incredible! Over the course of the 2.5-hour tour, Captain Matt took us to a wonderful variety of locations, making every part of the trip feel unique. He was also able to drop us off right at the cruise dock avoiding the need for shuttle back to the ship pier, allowing for extended time on water. I left the excursion completely satisfied and would recommend it to anyone visiting Sitka. Our trip to Alaska would not have been the same without this experience. If we ever return to Sitka, we would absolutely book another tour with Captain Matt and his crew.
