Sitka Marine Wildlife Cruise

We recently had the pleasure of doing a tour with Captain Matt in August 2026. Coming off the cruise ship, we didn't have anything planned and ran into Captain Matt in the center of Sitka along with other tour operators. We decided to do the afternoon tour with Captain Mattand it exceeded our expectations. Sophia, was our tour guide. She was very knowledgeable. and lives in Sitka. We saw more whales than we could count, a number of bears (with 3 cubs!), seals, adorable sea otters & eagles also. What distinguished this tour from others being offered, is both Matt and Sophia were local and were very knowledgeable about the area and the surrounding wildlife. Matt even built the boat we went out on & pointed out others he'd built. Many of the tours hire people from other areas just for the Summer. Being from Massachusetts, we have been on whale watch tours before, but this tour was far better. This tour was one of the best highlights of our cruise. My wife and I HIGHLY recommend this boat tour. We plan to go back to Alaska and when we do we will be booking Sea Piper Wildlife Tours again. A side note, we appreciated they offered a snack that was both gluten and nut free for those with allergies.
