Punta Borinquen Beach occupies the far northwestern corner of Puerto Rico, near the city of Aguadilla. The land here was once part of Ramey Air Force Base, a major US military installation that operated from the 1940s until the early 1970s. After the base closed, the area gradually returned to public use, and the coastline became a favorite among locals seeking an unmanicured alternative to the island's resort beaches.

The beach is best known for its surf. The Atlantic swells that arrive here in winter produce consistent, powerful waves that attract experienced surfers from across Puerto Rico and beyond. Outside of peak swell season, the water calms enough for wading and casual swimming in certain areas, though visitors should always read conditions carefully.

Beyond the water, the surrounding landscape rewards exploration. Limestone bluffs, open grassy flats, and views of the Aguadilla lighthouse give the area a distinctive character. Fishing from the rocks is common, and the breezy atmosphere makes long walks along the shore genuinely pleasant.
