Itinerary

1. Check in at Birch Bark Canoe Livery 15 minutes before your trip.
2. Complete waivers and payment (can also be done online in advance).
3. Shuttle ride to Lippincott Road launch site.
4. Start your float down the beautiful Mad River.
5. About 30 minutes in, encounter the "Tractor Crossing" — an easy 8-inch waterfall (stay straight!).
6. Pass under the remains of an old township bridge.
7. Reach the modern State Route 296 bridge (halfway point).
8. Continue through scenic, tree-lined riverbanks.
9. Watch for the Birch Bark sign on the right to exit.
10. Return your paddle and life jacket — you’re back where you started!

Important details

• Check in 15 minutes before your trip and complete a waiver
• Ages 3+ only; all participants must be at least 36 inches tall
• Adult supervision is required for anyone under 16
• Wear rugged water shoes or old sneakers; no flip-flops
• No alcohol or personal inflatables are allowed
• Canoes have a 1,000 lb weight limit; kayaks and tubes have a 250 lb limit
• Tubes must be tied to a boat
• Keep pets leashed in the parking lot
