Do I need a reservation?
Reservations are strongly recommended but not required. Tickets may be purchased up to 20 minutes before departure. This train can sell out, so pre-purchasing is recommended.
You may reschedule or receive a refund if you cancel at least 48 hours before departure, subject to ticket agent confirmation; processing fees may apply. Cancellations within 48 hours or no-shows are not eligible for exchanges, transfers, or refunds. If the railroad cancels the excursion, refunds or credits will be issued.

This beloved railroad museum offers a mix of experiences, from regular scenic rides to special seasonal events that draw families back year after year. The dome cars and first-class windowed seating get consistent praise for their fantastic views, and visitors love exploring the pristine collection of trains and model displays before their rides. The museum itself impresses as a quality attraction with plenty to see up close. The holiday train experience generates the most buzz, particularly the pre-ride entertainment. Families rave about the engaging storytelling sessions, live music, and carolers that set a magical tone, especially for younger children. Staff members receive kudos for being friendly and helpful with crowds. However, some visitors feel the actual train ride portion doesn't match the buildup. Several reviewers mention shorter-than-expected rides and note that holiday decorations seem concentrated in first-class areas while standard seating feels less festive. The experience works best when expectations align with what's offered: a charming storytime event paired with a brief scenic ride, rather than an elaborate onboard Christmas spectacle. Most families still leave happy, particularly those with toddlers and young children who get completely absorbed in the overall atmosphere.
Truly enjoyed the entire experience. It was a magical night for our 4 year old grandson. He got to see Santa and his elves. Exploring the trains before the actual train ride peeked his excitement.
